Grant-making and Management

Blue Strike is experienced in grant-making as well as grant management, providing a unique skillset to successfully design, manage and oversee the development of grant-making programs that support resilient communities. We work with local governments to help identify and secure funding, define grant goals, set terms and procedures, and oversee distribution and management of funding. Our principals have worked with CalRecycle on the state level to design and implement grant-making programs with public funds supporting zero waste and circular economy goals for SB 1383 Food Rescue Organization Capacity Building, as well as extended producer programs including California Carpet Stewardship Program and Mattress Recycling Coalition, managing over $10M in grant-making funding since 2016.

Successful grant-making must ensure meticulous management oversight, design of proper protocols, terms and conditions, and compliance mechanisms for risk management. At the same time, efforts should be made to reduce unnecessary burdens to resource constrained food rescue organizations targeted for benefits under this program. Achieving the proper balance of compliance reporting and documentation with streamlined programmed structures will help maximize benefits to grant recipients.
