CLIMATE ACTION PLAN
Client: Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority
Project: Climate Action Plan
Blue Strike partnered with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), the organization behind the largest convention center in the United States, spanning an impressive 4.6 million square feet. Recognizing LVCVA's pivotal role in setting industry sustainability standards and combating climate change, this collaboration focused on developing a comprehensive Climate Action Plan. This multi-dimensional project targeted key operational aspects, such as sustainable electricity procurement, fleet electrification analysis, and advancements in lighting efficiencies.
Beyond these focus areas, Blue Strike aided LVCVA in formulating and executing a tactical roadmap that encompassed new renewable energy programs, water usage optimization, and robust waste diversion plans. To ensure the project's long-term success and accountability, Blue Strike employed a suite of measurement and monitoring tools designed to continually assess the effectiveness of the implemented strategies.
In the second phase of the project, Blue Strike worked to certify the LVCVA’s Las Vegas Convention Center with a gold-standard sustainability certification from the Event Industry Council. Blue Strike also developed an online reporting dashboard to capture annual progress toward GHG emission reduction goals (see dashboard image to the left). Finally, the team created LVCVA’s first-ever Scope 3 emissions inventory, along with a suite of strategies to help eliminate these emissions over time.
