Project: Climate Action Plan

Blue Strike delivered a groundbreaking climate action plan for the University of Colorado’s Boulder campus, centered on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). The plan sets forth a clear pathway to zero emissions for the Boulder campus, leveraging a suite of renewable energy, fleet, energy efficiency and equipment replacement strategies. These strategies were quantitatively evaluated for energy savings, emission reductions, capital and operational costs, and financial benefit. Important components of the analysis included net present value, internal rate of return, and payback period for the various projects. The final project list included over 350 lighting retrofit, HVAC retrofit, controls, and central utility plant upgrades. The resulting CAP keeps the campus in line with its science-based targets, achieving a 50% reduction in emissions by 2030 and 100% by 2050, while maintaining expected growth and campus resiliency.
