Project: Climate Action Plan

Blue Strike is spearheading the development of the Bell Gardens Climate Action Plan (BGCAP) to mitigate the impacts of climate change for the City of Bell Gardens. This project focuses on reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across critical sectors such as energy, transportation, and waste, while actively engaging the community to ensure the plan reflects local priorities and challenges.

The BGCAP will incorporate equitable and actionable climate strategies, offering clear implementation pathways and monitoring measures to guide Bell Gardens’ transition toward sustainability and resilience. Designed as a collaborative effort, this plan will align with regional and state climate goals, and will serve as a guide for City staff, elected officials, and residents to achieve long-term environmental objectives. As part of this initiative, Blue Strike will:

• Conduct a baseline GHG inventory for municipal and community emissions

• Assess the City’s vulnerability to climate change impacts, including heatwaves, flooding, and air quality degradation

• Engage with the community, City Council, and regional stakeholders to shape actionable strategies

• Develop GHG reduction targets aligned with state goals for 2030, 2045, and 2050

• Create an implementation plan with prioritized actions, equity considerations, and funding strategies

• Design a monitoring framework for progress tracking and reporting

• Finalize the BGCAP and assist in its adoption by the City Council and Planning Commission
