California Roots and Blue Strike have been able to create the first of its kind fully Zero Waste music festival. Due to a multitude of partnerships and a world class sorting team, the festival was able to reach over a 90% diversion rate and has broken ground on sustainability efforts in the music festival industry. In 2022 California Roots diverted 450lbs of edible food to pantries in the Monterey Area. California Roots Bike and Skateboard Valet Program, which is a partnership with a local non-profit, saved approximately 1.56 tons of gasoline. The festival’s steel pint program diverted over 30,000 plastic cups from the waste stream.
